Peace is Everyone's Responsibility

Miami, Florida 9-11 November 2000

The North American Presidential Conference is now history, and was declared a great success by all who attended and shared in the fellowship as well as the conference plenary sessions.

It was attended by close to 400 Rotarians and guests from 32 different countries who came to learn and participate in discussions related to Urban Violence, Avoidable Blindness, Jobs for the Disabled and Public Relations..  They participated in roundtable discussions hosted by the RI, and Rotary Foundation Action Committees and the 20 RI Task Forces.  In addition they devoted an entire roundtable discussion to providing their ideas for what “Proactive, Action-Oriented Rotarians can do to Improve Membership Development and Retention in 2000-01”.

The final session of the conference was a moving program devoted to an update on Polio Plus by the Chair of The Rotary Foundation Trustees, PRIP Herb Brown, and current RI Board Member, Robert Scott.
